Small Group Enrichment Pods
In ELA and Content Area Enrichment
Small group enrichment classes (4 - 6 students) held over multiple weeks, focused on strengthening ELA and critical inquiry skills using interest based learning. Curriculum is structured around student needs and goals, developed to foster dynamic peer discussion and group activities to stimulate deeper critical thought and inference building. Instruction culminates in an extended writing response developed on themes of the text. Students are also taught the value of the drafting process and attending to teacher feedback. Curriculum is developed specifically to each pod. Most enrichment pods center on a group novel agreed upon by students and parents. However, learning pods are also available in non-fiction and content-based short readings. Prices dependent on number of students and depth of course objectives.

Homework Help
Targeted to Specific Needs
Homework help in high school and college critical responses for ELA and content-area subjects, focused on teaching students how to read literature and textbooks, synthesize information and take effective notes. Students also learn to decipher what information is important to know, and how to mark evidence for homework prompts. As texts become more complicated, this is an invaluable skill. More than ever, students are expected to self-direct their education. Instruction focuses on teaching students to organize the content they are given and how to take notes on the various modes of delivery
including videos, PowerPoints, and pdfs.
Remote or in-person options are available. Live sessions are held on Zoom, using shared screen and collaborative software for annotating and writing focused on specific student work. Appropriate for grades 7 through college. Work checklists are provided to guide students. If a student is using a hard copy text in-person sessions may be required.

Academic Essay Drafting Sessions
When you need to write a critical essay...
Instruction focuses on one specific essay assignment to support class learning objectives. Students present the topic and text to be used for analysis. Scaffolded drafting focuses on thesis statement formulation, outline, integration of evidence, draft production, and revision. Older students are taught the conventions of MLA and/or APA formatting, including in-text citations and Reference pages. This instruction can be held over one or several sessions depending on the assignment. This service can also be adapted to support multimodal research projects (i.e. PowerPoints). General Critical Literacy Instruction
Extended Weekly Instruction
Extended supplemental modules to teach students the mechanics and artistry of argumentative essay construction. Over a multi-week course design, students are provided with an age-appropriate reading with thought-provoking content. Deep discussion about the content reading helps students generate deeper critical engagement. Students learn to express their thoughts verbally using evidence-based rhetoric and to hash out the deeper nuances of the texts they read. From those discussions, students are encouraged to develop effective arguments, in response to specific prompts, based on meaningful content analysis. Focus is on text annotation, comprehension, inferences, and argument development. Grade-specific literacy skills are targeted. Advanced literacy acquisition is available for more academically-developed students. Initial general assessment required pertaining to educational goals and learning history to target instructional focus. Longer or shorter modules are available. Inquire with your specific request.

Making Your Essay Matter When It Matters So Much
College application essays are more important than ever these days. What do you write to get noticed by college recruiters? How do you let people know what makes you unique, insightful, and a valuable applicant among the thousands of other high school graduates? Sessions begin with brainstorming and then move through how best to tell your story. What are schools looking for? What words to use? We will work together to find your inner voice that best showcases who you are. Focuses on dynamic narrative construction and development of voice, with an emphasis on sharp succinct expression meant to say much in small spaces.
